Iverson and Webber Carry Sixers to Victory

The Sixers beat the Toronto Raptors last night by a score of 103-101. Allen Iverson hit a 15 foot jumper with 2.5 seconds left to give them the 2 point lead, and eventual victory. Iverson finished with 36 points on 11 of 23 shooting and also had 7 assists. Chris Webber had his breakout game as a Sixer, scoring 32 points. This game was the first time that both Webber and Iverson had outstanding games on the same night. Webber actually shot 2 more times than Iverson and played for 40 minutes. The Sixers are still holding onto the 8th and last playoff spot in the East.

I will be away on Spring Break for the next week, so I will not be able to update. Hopefully when I get back, the Sixers will have moved up in the playoff race.

Sixers look brilliant versus Pistons

The Sixers looked great vs. the defending champion Detroit Pistons crushing them 107-84. Allen Iverson played great scoring 39 with 10 assists and 5 steals. Chris Webber also had probably his best game as a Sixer scoring 19. Rookie Andre Iguodala recorded his first career triple double with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, and was the first rookie to do it since Kirk Heinrich last year. Box Score

Although the Pistons were without Richard Hamilton, the Sixers looked great. They are still holding onto the last playoff spot in the East. If they continue to play like they did last night, they will have no problems making the playoffs. It was also good to see Aaron McKie getting more playing time. I feel he needs more minutes, taking some of Korvers minutes. McKie does it all, rebounding, steals, 3-point threat, while Korver is a liabilty of defense.

Sixers 1-1 over the weekend

There were actually some NBA games that went on this weekend, although not many people paid attention to them with all the great NCAA tournament games going on.

The Sixers beat the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday 93-81 as Allen Iverson outshined Lebron James. Saturday, the Sixers played the Chicago Bulls at home and lost 94-88. Chris Webber sat out this game with a leg injury, but the Sixers still should have won.

Allen Iverson wasn't too impressed with the refereeing in the Bulls game, and was very angry after a late charge was called on him. Iverson was yelling at the ref, and the ref apparently said that he would "whup his ass." Iverson didn't like that much and had to be restrained by teammates and "a few minutes later was seen heading in the direction of the referees' dressing room before general manager Billy King interceded and calmed him down." Iverson may be fined for this. Story

Iverson hurt in Sixers win vs. the Lakers

The Sixers easily defeated the Lakers last night 108-91, however they have more important things to worry about. Allen Iverson, who scored 36 points and had 9 assists left the game with a chipped bone in his left thumb. He is day-to-day and will be reevaluated on Friday before the game against Cleveland. Lakers game box score and recap.

Chris Webber still continues to be a non-factor since the trade. This game he went just 2-8 from the field with 5 points in 33 minutes of playing time. Webber needs to step it up, especially if Iverson is out for the upcoming games.

Weekend update

This weekend, the Sixers played the Toronto Raptors in a game that was painful to watch for me. The Sixers allowed the Raptors to set the NBA record for 3 pointers in a single game. They also allowed Donyell Marshall, who doesn't even start for the team, set the NBA record for most 3's in a game by an individual player. The Sixers actually shot the ball well (over 50%), but their defense was so terrible, they endedu up losing the game 128-110. Recap

The Sixers have a game tonight against the LA Lakers. Hopefully the fans greet scumbag Kobe Bryant with some boos like they usually do. The Sixers need to get back on track if they hope to get into the playoffs. Boston is so hot right now, so first place in the division is a stretch. They may need to battle it out for the 8th position in the playoffs, in which they are currently 1 1/2 games out of. There are only 19 more games for the Sixers, so they need to start to make their move.

Heat beat Sixers 109-100

The Miami Heat beat the Sixers last night behind Dwayne Wade's 32 points. Shaquille O'Neal added in 25 for the Heat, who finished the game shooting 54.9%. The Sixers seemed that they didn't have a way to defend Shaq. Allen Iverson led the Sixers with 27 points. Recap

In other Sixers news, Chris Webber met yesterday with coach Jim O'Brien yesterday to discuss his playing time. Apparently Webber has been upset about his playing time with his Sixers, and was seen several times pouting and not joining in team huddles during the Atlanta Hawks game. The problems between the coach and Webber seemed to be resolved as of right now. Click Here for more details.

Tonight, the Sixers play the Golden State Warriors at home, which is their 6th game in 8 days.

Sixers Update

The Sixers have won their past two games, beating Cleveland 98-89 on Friday, and Atlanta 98-97 on Saturday. With Boston losing today, the Sixers are currently 1 1/2 games out of first place in the Atlantic Division. Tomorrow, the Sixers travel to Miami to play the Miami Heat, who have the best record in the Eastern Conference. On Tuesday, the Sixers play the Golden State Warriors. I will be back to blog about the Sixers after each of their next few games.

Sixers win!

The Sixers won tonight 118-111. I put a few dollars on the game, so I won some money. Iverson had 45 points after 3 quarters, but only finished with 48. Still a great game. Visit here for the box score and recap

Practice? We're talking about practice?

Allen Iverson has said he is actually looking forward to practice. The same Allen Iverson of a couple of years ago who didn't like practice and went off in a news conference about it. He feels that now is the time to get something done, and the Sixers don't have any time to waste. Link

The Sixers get back into action tonight at Milwaukee. They come into the game as 1 point underdogs. Hopefully, Chris Webber and the other new players have been able to learn more plays in practice and the Sixers get the victory. I will be back later tonight after the game to update the result of the game.
